Pinot Noir is such an expressive variety of site and circumstance - famously so, given all the minutiae of Burgundy. We searched far and wide for years to find the the right combination of factors before we even thought about making Pinot Noir and when we found the St Clar vineyard it ticked all the boxes - easterly aspect, the right clones, the right sub-region, perfect soil types - the list is long. Working with it in the cellar was easy - respect the fruit with minor influence on our part: a third whole bunches under a third of footstomped under whole berry grapes layered in the same fermenter. The result is a wine the we're super proud of - delicious, complex, interesting and thoroughly enjoyable.
