The Dead Winemakers Society is our homage to those visionary individuals that carved their path in the wine industry before us. They were the crazy ones, the wild-eyed wine poets that had a deep respect for both the land they farmed and the process of guiding the fruit to bottle in the most thoughtful and composed manner possible. There have been many who have inspired us through their wines and philosophy – we have listened, learned and adapted the practises of their legacy to form our own.

Hand harvested, destemmed with the rollers out, retaining as much whole berry as possible. Fermented until dry on skins (10 days) with wild yeast. Hand plunged for gentler extraction. Medium extraction through pressing cycle. Due to a warmer vintage and wanting to lock in the primary fruit flavours, the wine was matured in stainless steel tank for 18 months, with six months bottle age before release.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: Cherry and blackberries integrated with earthy herbal notes.

PALATE: Bright acidity, which supports the fruitier aspects of the palate, although it's the velvety mouthfeel that sees it through to the finish.

PAIR: Pizza and salumi but wouldn't go astray with a steak and would love some chargrilled eggplant.

CELLAR: Up to 10 years.
